Shoulder Pain Frankfort, IL

Botti Chiropractic & Wellness | Chiropractor Frankfort

At the core, shoulder pain is the discomfort that an individual feels in the upper arm where it connects to the upper part of the torso. Additionally, shoulder pain can be a result of a few different causes. If you are experiencing any discomfort in this region, contact Dr. Botti, chiropractor Frankfort, to figure out what’s happening.

Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder is when the shoulder joint is stiff, making it nearly impossible for the individual to have a full range of movement. This condition occurs when the tissue inside/around the joint either swell or tighten. Once the tissues begin to do this, it makes it challenging for the shoulder to properly move, causing the discomfort or pain. Today, there is no actual known cause for frozen shoulder aside from different reasons that can increase the probability of it occurring. Those who have undergone surgery, have diabetes, or recently experienced an injury are most vulnerable.

Rotator Cuff Disorder

The group of tendons and muscles that surround the shoulder join are coined the rotator cuff. Those tendons and muscles play a huge role in keeping the shoulder held in place, allowing for a full range of motion. Symptoms of rotator cuff disorder may include, but not limited to, discomfort when lifting the arm or stretching it away from the body, or constant pain on the sides or front of the shoulder.

Shoulder Instability

The way that the shoulder functions is with something known as a ball and socket joint. Shoulder instability occurs when that ball is not functioning properly. When this happens, patients may experience a dislocated shoulder or a slipped shoulder. Symptoms of this condition may be a weakened shoulder, popping of the shoulder, tingling sensation, or even a clicking sound. Those who suffer from a dislocated shoulder will experience intense pain, inability to properly move, and the shoulder will visually appear out of place.

Acromioclavicular Joint Disorders

The top part of the shoulder includes something called the acromioclavicular joint. This is much different than the primary ball and socket joint that we just discussed. AJD, or acromioclavicular joint disorder, is often triggered by osteoarthritis, overstretching or the tearing of ligaments, or shoulder dislocation. Common symptoms of this condition may include a limited range of motion and joint pain.

Broken Collarbone or Broken Arm

If an individual is experiencing a broken collarbone or arm, it can lead to significant shoulder pain. Typically, these situations occur when an individual undergoes an accident or severe trauma. Should you think your collarbone or arm is broken, it’s highly recommended to visit a medical professional immediately. In most events, either case is quite visible.
